I have a question. During WWII, my mom worked near Love Field in Dallas, Texas. She worked on a fighter aircraft of some sort. She recalls glueing fabric on wings or fuselages but does not recall what plane it might have been. She remembers the company was a furniture manufacturer, no name recalled.
Any idea on what plane this might have been?

Dear Mr. Wade,
To the best of my knowledge, there were no aircraft manufacturers at Love Field, Texas. In October 1940 a level 1 flight training facility was set up there, mostly equipped with Fairchild PT-19s but also using Boeing-Stearman PT-17s and a few Curtiss P-40s for fighter training. Later in the war Air Materiel Command located a modification center for performing aircraft overhauls. Your mother might have been engaged in repairing or maintaining any of the aircraft mentioned above, but fighters did not have much fabric at that time, outside of some control surfaces on early models.
