Dear Mr. Guttman,
I was wondering what Joseph Hooker did for President Lincoln’s funeral? Also from the research I have done so far I don’t think that he has any siblings. That is pretty strange considering that most families back then had multiple children so they could have help on the farm. And he had 9 children with 2 wives. So did he have any siblings???
Thanks for the help.

Dear Ms. Eason,
After Abraham Lincoln’s death, Secretary of War Edwin Stanton put Maj. Gen. Joseph Hooker in charge of funeral arrangements. On May 3, 1865 he was at Springfield, Illinois, to receive the late president’s remains and on May 4 Hooker led Guard of Honor heading the funeral procession to his final resting place at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Joseph Hooker IV the first son born to Joseph Hooker III and Mary (nee Seymour) Hooker in Hadley, Massachusetts on November 13, 1814. Before him, however, came three sisters—Nancy Spear Hooker, born on July 22, 1806, Mary Seymour Hooker on November 28, 1808 and Sarah Rowley Hooker on October 13, 1811.
