Mr. History,

I am a general lecturer and was asked a question pertaining to the Buffalo Soldiers. The question of concern is: Were the Buffalo Soldiers affiliated with the masonic order of Prince Hall Masons? Could you please provide some insight? I await your answer and thank you in advance for your assistance. Take care. PEACE. !!!

Dear Samuel,

Affiliation with Masonic orders is an individual act, not done automatically. That said, though, the Prince Hall Masons have dedicated some of their lodges in Texas and the Southwest to the memory of the various “Buffalo Soldier “ units—24th and 25th Infantry regiments, and 9th and 10th Cavalry regiments—as explained in the attached articles.
