During the Second World War the U.S. government peppered the nation with propaganda posters containing a mixture of humor, motivation…and a heavy dose of guilt.
Presently, amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the analogies between these 1940s posters and present day are increasingly apropos. “For the collective good” was the leading message during the war—where small actions could be lifesaving or, in turn, have dire consequences.
And while the problems we currently face are not ideological in nature, we are certainly in unchartered territory as the world battles the novel virus. So give it your best, America, and stay inside.
