Korean War Armistice

While American soldiers continue to take their way of life with them throughout the world, the combat soldier in Korea, Dec. 15, 1967 finds being under the enemy gun leaves little time for the comforts of home. While more than 20 GI’s have been killed in less than a year, the 50,000 men on duty are not granted the $65-a-month combat pay given Vietnam soldiers, whether in combat or not. On patrol in the Demilitarized Zone, troops of the 1st Bn., 38th Infantry, 2nd Division, dismount from a truck with dogs to begin a day’s work under the tension of potential combat. (AP Photo)
