When US General McAuliffe was asked to surrender at Bastogne he made this response.

- “No way in hell”
- “Nuts”
“Nuts”. On December 22, 1944, McAuliffe and his 101st Airborne Division were completely surrounded by strong enemy forces. When asked to surrender, McAuliffe had the one word response typed and formally handed to the Germans.
