In 1892, Whitcomb Judson of Chicago invented this handy device made popular by the B.F. Goodrich Company.
Zipper originally known as a mesh-tooth type of slide fastener. Goodrich attached the fastener to its Zipper rubber galoshes and the fasteners became known as zippers.
