Mary Ann Lamb, who along with her brother, Charles Lamb, wrote three children’s books including Tales from Shakespeare, an attempt to make Shakespeare’s plays understandable to children. Mary Ann Lamb had periodic episodes of insanity. During one in 1796, she stabbed her mother to death, for which she spent three years in an asylum.
