Waterloo
Le Belle Alliance (“the beautiful alliance” in English), was the name of a farm where Napoleon had his headquarters in the center of the French line. After the battle, it was where the Duke of Wellington, commander of the Anglo-Dutch forces, and Prussian field marshal Blucher met. Wellington picked Waterloo for the name because it sounded more English, and the town of Waterloo was where he sent his dispatches from.
