1912. Georges Claude developed the neon-gas filled tubes in France in 1910. His associate, Jacques Fonseque, sold the first neon advertising sign to a Paris barber in 1912. Neon-light advertising debuted in America in 1923 after Earle C. Anthony imported two signs for his Los Angeles Packard dealership.
