A Buck knife. In poker, players rotate the act of dealing cards. Purportedly, in the 19th century a knife placed next to the card deck showed players who was dealing. Our phrases "Pass the buck" and "the buck stops here" are said to come from this practice. These "buck knives" were probably named for the deer antler often used as a handle. Hoyt Buck created the modern Buck knife in 1902.
