Firing squad. Szenes (Her name is now spelled Senesh.) parachuted into Yugoslavia in March 1944 to assist anti-Nazi forces in their mission to enter her native Hungary. Once in Hungary, she was captured and tortured but refused to give any information. At age 23 in November 1944, she was executed. Her writings survived. Her most famous poem,
