Neils Bohr. His theories allowed an understanding of the mechanics of nuclear fission, and his "concept of complementarity" helped clarify problems in the field of quantum physics. For his work, he received the 1922 Nobel Prize in Physics and, in 1957, the first-ever Atoms for Peace Award.
