A trip to New York City during a snowstorm inspired Mary Anderson to invent this.
Windshield wiper
Snow plow
Studded tires
Car defroster
Windshield wiper. Anderson was from Alabama. In celebration of an inheritance, she took a trip to New York City. Riding in a streetcar during a snowstorm, she saw the driver continually sliding open the middle pane of the windshield to clean it off. She came up with a better way and patented it in 1904.
