Dr. Clemence Lozier. In conjunction with Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Lozier lobbied the New York state legislature for the medical college until the charter was granted. Dr. Lozier was very active in various reform movements including women’s suffrage, abolition, prison reform, and better treatment of Native Americans. Mourners at her funeral included 48 female doctors who were alumnae of her college, six of whom were her relatives.
