1944?1945. Operation Ichi-Go in central southeastern China began in mid-April 1944 and concluded in February 1945. Fought during a time when Imperial forces were suffering one reverse after another, Ichi-Go was very successful. It was halted only because the commander, Okamura Yasuji, feared bringing the USSR into the war.
