In March 1766 the British Parliament repealed this tax.
The sugar tax
The tea tax
The income tax
The stamp tax
The stamp tax was originally imposed in 1765. The tax was placed on many paper goods in the British colonies in North America that then had to have an official stamp embossed on them to show the tax had been paid. The act was met with many and sometimes violent protests in the colonies and soon became unenforceable.
