The Landlord’s Game
Streets of Gold
Money, Money
Rich or Poor
The Landlord’s Game. A Quaker named Lizzie Magie patented it in 1904 to show the inequities of real estate and tax laws, with the players extorting money from each other. In 1930 Charles Darrow played the game once with a friend, rewrote the rules, renamed the streets and included the use of houses and hotels to create the game we know today.
