Godfrey of Bouillon. One of the leaders of the First Crusade, he accepted the role of ruling the Kingdom of Jerusalem in 1099. He refused to be called a king and seemed to use the title "Princeps" instead. One letter refers to him as the Advocatus Sancti Sepulchri or Defender of the Holy Sepulchre.
