Susan B. Anthony. A suffragist, Ida Harper had handled all press relations in California during the campaign for the state suffrage amendment. Anthony was so impressed that she selected Harper, who had previously written a weekly column in the Terra Haute Saturday Evening Mail and edited a column in the Locomotive Firemen’s Magazine, as her biographer. Harper produced a three-volume biography.
