Kimberly employed electric streetlights in January 1882. Both London and New York lit one street with electric streetlights later that same year. However, London had previously lit Holborn Viaduct and the Thames Embankment. Newcastle-upon-Tyne was first to light a street using electricity, followed by Cleveland, Ohio, and Wabash, Indiana.
