HMS Argus. A converted ocean liner, Argus was commissioned in 1918 and was the world’s first aircraft carrier with a full-length flight-deck that allowed wheeled airplanes to take off and land. In World War II it saw active service in the Mediterranean and on the Murmansk Run before becoming a training ship.
