Benito Mussolini began the Il popolo d’Italia (The People of Italy) after he was expelled from the Italian Socialist Party in 1914. This pro-war newspaper soon found itself at the forefront of fascist idealism, until Mussolini was removed as prime minister in 1943. In English the title means, "The People of Italy."
