Toyotomi Hideyori. The son of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a daimyo who claimed victory at the end of the Sengoku period, Hideyori initially had over 100,000 troops garrisoned in the castle and was able to hold off the attackers, but during a brief peace agreement Tokugawa destroyed the walls and filled in the castle’s moat.
