The Battle of Magnesia saw a Roman army of 30,000 men under Lucius Cornelius Scipio defeat the Seleucid king Antiochus III. The battle was decisive and effectively ended the Syrian war. Antiochus had brought a large army with him: 60,000 infantry, 12,000 cavalry, scythed chariots, and 54 elephants.
