Brigadier General Nathaniel Lyons. Mortally wounded late in the September 1861 Battle of Wilson’s Creek or Oak Hills, Missouri, his personal aide, Private Alhert Lehmann, caught him as he was falling. Lyons reportedly whispered, "Lehmann, I am dying." Other versions give his words as "I am going."
