Sir Ian Hamilton had to work with what he was given for the invasion of Turkey via the Gallipoli peninsula during 1915, which wasn’t a lot. The Royal Navy refused to sail into the Dardanelles because of mines and therefore couldn’t give Hamilton naval support. The landings were also conducted on unfavorable terrain for the invaders because the defenders had the high ground above the beachheads.
