The Hussite Wars. A revolutionary tactic called the Wagenburg (wagon castle) utilized a square formation of wagons connected by chain and defended by missile and pike infantry. During battle the square formation of wagons would first be used defensively to repel the mighty heavy cavalry charges of the enemy, after which the Hussite cavalry would attack.
