Ireland. She departed from Harbor Grace, Newfoundland on May 19, 1932, intending to land in England. Thirteen hours and thirty minutes,and 2,026 miles later, she touched down near Londonderry, Ireland. Tradition has it that when she asked a man where she was, he replied, "In Gallagher’s field." He then asked if she’d come far. "Just from America," she replied.
