The Battle of Ty-ho Bay. The Anglo-American force consisted of HMS Rattler, USS Powhatan, and the British ship Eaglet, which was towing a half-dozen small boats carrying armed sailors and marines. The Chinese pirates’ fleet of war-junks totaled 36 ships, 20 of which were lost in the battle. The Anglo-Americans rescued seven merchant vessels previously captured by the pirates.
