Italo-Turkish War. Captain Carlo Piazza flew the first reconnaissance sortie on October 23, 1911. Later the Italian Army Air Corps bombed a Turkish camp at Ain Zara, Libya, on November 1, using an early model Etrich Taube. The pilot of the latter was Giulio Gavotti.
