Wiretapping. Roy Olmstead, convicted of bootlegging based on information obtained from federal wiretap in his building and in streets near where he lived, appealed claiming the wiretaps, done without judicial approval, violated his Constitutional rights. The Supreme Court rejected his appeal, simultaneously doing the same with a similar case, Green v. United States.
