"The Debut of Thomas Cat." Earl Hurd created the cartoon short for Bray Studios in 1920. He used the Brewster color process, in which a special beam-splitter camera allowed two rolls of film to be exposed simultaneously, passing one light beam through a red filter, the other through a green one. This two-color process lacked the color intensity of later cartoons and films that used Technicolor.
