Stoke, June, 1487, two years after his victory over Richard III at Bosworth Field, Henry VII defeated the rebel forces of John de la Pole, Earl of Lincoln. Lincoln fought under the banner of a young boy named Lambert Simnel who, bearing a strong resemblance to the eldest son of King Edward IV, was put forth as the rightful king. Lincoln died in the battle, but Simnel was pardoned and given a job in the king?s kitchen.
