Trench-diggers; they were later designated Cultivator No. 6. Churchill envisioned machines that would dig trenches at night, through which infantry and tanks could safely reach the German trenches for surprise attacks. The mobile warfare of WW II negated the need for such devices, and only a handful of prototypes were made.
