Grover Cleveland. Between his first and second terms, he and wife Frances had a daughter they named Ruth. The little girl became very popular with the public. When the Curtiss Candy Co. released the candy bar in 1921, it claimed the sweet was named after her, though this may have been a ploy to allow the company to capitalize on the name of rising baseball star Babe Ruth without his permission.
