Lt. Edward "Butch" O’Hare. On Feb. 20, 1942, flying alone after his wingman’s guns jammed, the Navy Wildcat pilot shot down five Japanese bombers that were attacking USS Lexington and drove off the rest. Chicago renamed its airport in his honor Sept. 19, 1949.
