Battle of the Boyne. On July 1, 1690 – July 11 on the modern calendar – King William III of England, also known as William of Orange, defeated his father-in-law King James II along the Boyne in Ireland, essentially ending the Jacobite Rebellion. Two of the crossing sites were Oldbridge and Drybridge.
