Frederick the Great. He established Prussia as a major European power, defended Germany against Austria, France and Russia simultaneously, and established his family, the Hohenzollerns, as the rulers of Germany for two centuries. But he was often mocking and detached and showed little affection for anyone, including his wife, Princess Elizabeth Christine of Brunswick.
