Cole Porter. Legendary American songwriter Cole Porter lost a leg as the result of a horse riding accident. In 1937 Cole Porter was seriously injured while horseback riding, and as a result his leg was eventually amputated. The writer of “I Concentrate on You,” ?I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” “Night and Day” and many other classic songs refused to let his injuries prevent him from traveling and composing.
