Sun Yat-sen. Chinese revolutionary leader Sun Yat-sen attended an Anglican grammar school in Hawaii. Born in 1866 to a Christian peasant near Macao, he went on to graduate from Hong Kong School of Medicine in 1892. While there he became involved in revolutionary activities and was forced to leave China in 1895. He organized a revolutionary secret society in 1905. In 1911 he returned to China after a successful revolution in the south and became provisional president of a republican government there before stepping aside for Yuan Shih-k’ai. Sun formed the nationalist Kuomintang party in 1912. He died in 1925.
