Socrates (469-399 B.C.) had been the teacher of two leaders who were held responsible for the Greek’s loss to Sparta in the Peloponnesian War (431-404 B.C.). Plato’s Apology, Crito, and Phaedo describe Socrates’ trial, imprisonment and death.
