Creek Indians. On March 27, 1814, the Creek Indians were defeated by a force under Andrew Jackson in the Battle of Horseshoe Bend. This defeat led to the Treaty of Ft. Jackson on August 9, in which the Creeks ceded much of the Mississippi Territory. This ended Indian resistance in the region and opened the doors to pioneers after the conclusion of the War of 1812.
