Operation Bolero was the name of the logistics mission to transfer equipment and fighting men from Canada and the United States to England in preparation for a cross-Channel invasion in 1943. Started in April 1942, this colossal logistical effort was undertaken by the Services of Supply (SOS), part of the U.S. Army. Getting the men and materiel to England was a challenge, but feeding and housing the huge force was an even bigger task.
