This great figure of the American Revolutionary era urged restoration of the property and rights of Loyalists after the Revolutionary War.
A great figure of the American Revolutionary era, Patrick Henry urged restoration of the property and rights of Loyalists after the Revolutionary War. He believed that Loyalists would make good citizens of the new republic. Henry also bitterly opposed the Constitution as a threat to the liberties of the people and rights of the states. He believed that once the war had been won, a central authority was no longer needed. Born May 29, 1736, in Virginia, Henry died June 6, 1799.
