Presidential Executive Order 9066, issued by Franklin D. Roosevelt on February 19, 1942 as a wartime measure, resulted in the incarceration of more than 110,000 Japanese-Americans living in California, Oregon, Washington and Arizona. By the end of March 1942, the Japanese-Americans were moved to relocation camps throughout the U.S. interior. The mass expulsion of Japanese-Americans from the West Coast ended on January 2, 1945.
