Gunston Hall Plantation, situated on the Potomac River some 20 miles south of Washington D.C., was the name of the home of Revolutionary statesman George Mason. Born in 1725, Mason framed the Bill of Rights for the Virginia Convention in June 1776. This was the model for the first part of fellow Virginian Thomas Jefferson?s Declaration of Independence and the basis of the first 10 Amendments to the federal Constitution. Mason died at Gunston Hall on October 7, 1792.
