The Pritzker Military Library Literature Award—named for Colonel (IL) J.N. Pritzker, IL ARNG (Retired), Founder of the Pritzker Military Library and Tawani Foundation—recognizes a living author for a body of work that has profoundly enriched the public understanding of American military history.

Carlo D’Este’s distinguised career as a writer of military history began with his first book, Decision in Normandy (1983), and has continued through Warlord: A Life of Winston Churchill at War, 1874-1945 (2008)—hopefully, with many more volumes to come.

He is a Consulting Historian and Advisory Board member for Armchair General magazine; more information on Mr. D’Este and the Pritzker can be found on our partner site,
