THE SIXTIES: AMERICA 1960-1970, (Multieducator, $54.95).

The people, places, and events of America in the tumultuous 1960s can be easily accessed in this CD-ROM for Macintosh and Windows, which examines such broad subject areas as the Vietnam War, space exploration and technology, arts and culture, and famous Americans of the era. Users can view black-and-white and color photographs, an hour of videotape, and hundreds of original source documents as they examine events including the 1961 inauguration of President John F. Kennedy (1917-63) and his assassination two years later, the ascent of the first American into space in 1962, the 1964 arrival of the Beatles in the United States, the Alabama civil rights march from Selma to Birmingham in 1965, and the 1970 invasion of Cambodia. Biographies featured include those of astronaut Neil Armstrong (1930- ), environmentalist Rachel Carson (1907-64), television journalist Walter Cronkite (1916- ), FBI director J. Edgar Hoover (1895-1972), and civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., (1929-68). A section on popular culture gives the top-rated television shows, movies, Oscar winners, Pulitzer Prize winners, and National Basketball Association champions of the decade.
