The price of fuel is climbing steadily upward, evoking memories of the fuel crisis of the 1970s. That crisis threatened not only the airline industry but also the future of American prosperity itself. A group of scientists and engineers at NASA tackled the problem by exploring new fuel-saving technologies. What emerged from this genesis of ingenuity and innovation was a series of technologically daring aeronautical programs with the potential to reduce by an astonishing 50 percent the amount of fuel used by the nation’s commercial and military aircraft.
Join American Public University professor, Dr. Mark Bowles, as he presents his award-winning* book Apollo of Aeronautics and fields questions from the audience. During this live event, Dr. Bowles will break down the fuel crisis of the 1970s and how this dire situation changed both commercial and military flight forever.
